SSO company commander “Eighteenth” led a five-day operation to evacuate wounded soldiers from the enemy rear, covering more than 50 km.

He shared his memories on Thursday, September 3, on Army FM.

According to the serviceman, everything began with a mission to infiltrate territory controlled by the occupiers and ambush enemy forces along their route.

“Eighteenth’s” subordinates successfully completed the mission, eliminating four invaders.

In addition, they seized valuable documents, radios and phones belonging to Russian servicemen.

After that, the group was ordered to return. However, while moving back, they encountered the enemy again, who opened fire and seriously wounded one of our soldiers.

“The group immediately began returning to evacuate him. During the evacuation, there was an explosion, as a result of which four more of our servicemen were seriously wounded. As a result, only two fighters remained capable of continuing. They provided first aid to the wounded and dragged them to shelter. It was then decided to involve other groups, including mine. I decided to move directly into the area to evacuate the wounded as quickly as possible, as they were in critical condition,” the company commander recalled.

This was where the captured Russian radios came in handy for our soldiers.

By listening to the enemy’s communications, the SSO fighters obtained highly useful information about the enemy’s actions, which helped them plan the evacuation.

“The evacuation of the wounded itself lasted about five days. When my subgroup went in to help, we were evacuating the most seriously wounded man, who had to be delivered to the handover point as quickly as possible. It took about 15 hours. We carried him, dragged him and ran with him — we used every possible method. The route covered by my subgroup was more than 50 kilometers,” “Eighteenth” said.
