On the night of 25 August 2026, units of Ukraine's Defence Forces struck production facilities at the Afipsky oil refinery in Russia's Krasnodar Krai.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this.

A fire on the plant’s premises has been confirmed. The extent of the damage is being assessed.

The Afipsky refinery is one of the largest oil processing enterprises in Krasnodar Krai, with a design capacity of 6.25 million tonnes of crude oil per year. Among other products, the plant produces diesel and petrol components, and is involved in supplying Russia’s occupying army.

In addition, hits on two U-272 gas separation units at the Astrakhan gas processing plant in Russia’s Astrakhan region were confirmed on the night of 24 August 2026.

The Astrakhan gas processing plant is a major enterprise in Russia’s gas processing industry and part of the Gazprom system. Its design capacity is up to 12 billion m³ of gas per year and around 7.3 million tonnes of gas condensate per year. The plant produces marketable natural gas, stabilised gas condensate, petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, liquefied petroleum gases and technical sulphur.

Output from the Astrakhan plant is used to supply Russia’s armed forces, while technical sulphur is used in the production of explosives.

Work against key enemy facilities continues.
