The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out a record-range strike against Russia’s largest oil refinery — the Omsk Oil Refinery.

The operation was announced by both the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Special Operations Forces Command.

According to the SOF, the strike was conducted by Deep Strike units. Ukrainian drones flew nearly 3,000 kilometres to reach the target, making it the deepest long-range strike inside Russian territory since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

The Special Operations Forces stated that this was the first successful strike on the Omsk Oil Refinery.

The attack damaged critical equipment at the facility, including the ELOU-AVT-11 primary crude oil processing unit. This installation is the key element of the refinery’s production cycle: without primary crude processing, the remaining technological units are effectively unable to operate.

The General Staff emphasized that the Omsk refinery became the last of Russia’s 11 largest gasoline producers to be successfully struck by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The refinery is the largest oil-processing facility in Russia, with a designed capacity exceeding 21 million tonnes of crude oil per year.

It produces motor gasoline, Euro-5 diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, lubricants, and other petrochemical products. According to the General Staff, the refinery directly supplies fuel to the Russian occupation forces, including military aviation.

Direct hits followed by a fire were recorded at the facility. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The Special Operations Forces stressed that Russia will not be able to hide its strategic facilities, even thousands of kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

“The Special Operations Forces will return to Russia the war it started — no matter how far the enemy tries to hide its targets”, —  the SOF Command emphasized.
