$4 billion in New Aid for Ukraine and record contributions to PURL: results of the Ramstein meeting
Partners have announced $4 billion in new assistance for Ukraine following a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov.
“It is important that support is increasingly concentrated on the areas that deliver the best results on the battlefield”, — the minister emphasized.
According to Mykhailo Fedorov, the key priorities remain unchanged: the PURL program, strengthening air defense, long-range artillery, and Ukrainian drones. The main decisions by Ukraine’s partners are focused on these areas.
Patriot Missiles and Air Defense
Nearly $1 billion will be allocated to the PURL mechanism, which provides Ukraine with critically important missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
The largest contributions in this area were announced by Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, and Sweden. Additionally, Germany is allocating $200 million to the JUMPSTART mechanism for the long-term procurement of Patriot missiles.
Long-Range Artillery
Approximately $540 million will be directed toward the procurement of extended-range artillery ammunition. Significant contributions to this effort are being made by Norway, Denmark, Spain, Lithuania, and Luxembourg.
Ukrainian Drones
More than $1 billion will be invested in unmanned systems. The United Kingdom will finance the procurement of 150,000 Ukrainian-made drones, the Netherlands will fund drone-cruise missiles for the Defense Forces, and Norway will support the acquisition of naval drones.
Partners also continue to invest in strengthening air defense systems, electronic warfare capabilities, infantry fighting vehicles, training centers, and other critical capabilities of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
“I am especially grateful to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his leadership in securing international support and to every country that stands with Ukraine. I thank our partners for their assistance, which strengthens our military and delivers practical results on the battlefield”, — Mykhailo Fedorov concluded.
