Ukraine and Sweden continue to work on strengthening Ukraine’s air force and air defense capabilities.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on his meeting with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

According to the Head of State, the talks focused on the outcomes of his recent visit to Sweden and the implementation of the agreements reached there, particularly regarding Gripen fighter jets.

“It was an important meeting that significantly strengthened our cooperation. Thank you, Sweden!” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

The parties also paid special attention to the protection of Ukraine’s skies. They discussed opportunities to bolster Ukraine’s air defense, as well as the provision of additional air defense systems and missiles for them.

President Zelenskyy also briefed the Swedish Prime Minister on his recent contacts with leaders within the E3–Ukraine format and on talks with representatives of the President of the United States regarding efforts to achieve a just peace.

In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Sweden for its unwavering support for Ukraine’s European integration path. According to him, Kyiv expects to open all six EU accession negotiation clusters in June and July.
