In the first two months of this year, more than 40 strikes were carried out on oil and gas infrastructure, defense industry facilities, command posts, warehouse
This was reported on March 3 by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
In particular, 13 refineries, oil depots, and other oil and gas facilities in Russia were struck. Attacks on these facilities weaken both the aggressor’s economic ability to wage war and directly reduce fuel supplies to the enemy’s army.
Why this matters
Depriving Russia of economic resources to wage war is one of the strategic goals of Ukraine’s War Plan, presented by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
Revenue from oil and gas sales enables Russia to finance the war. With this money, the enemy produces missiles and drones used to strike Ukrainian civilians, pays soldiers’ contracts, and maintains a vast propaganda network. If this channel is cut off, resources for war will sharply decrease.
Ukraine is preparing a strategy to make Russia’s budget deficit in 2026 the largest in its history.
Which Russian oil and gas facilities Ukraine struck

In addition, strikes were carried out on the Almetyevskaya oil preparation facility (Tatarstan), drilling rigs of the Lukoil corporation in the Caspian Sea, the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal (Krasnodar Krai), and the Neftegorsk gas processing plant (Samara Oblast).
