General Oleksandr Syrskyi held a substantive meeting with the Chief of Defence of the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, General Onno Eichelsheim.
This was reported in a statement by Oleksandr Syrskyi.
In General Eichelsheim, he expressed his sincere gratitude to the army, government, and people of the Netherlands for their consistent support of Ukraine in its resistance against the Russian aggressor.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation, the Dutch government has allocated €20.8 billion to strengthen Ukraine.
Particularly important is the Netherlands’ contribution of €750 million to the PURL initiative for financing purchases of American weaponry.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also thanked the Netherlands for its leadership role in the Fighter Jet Coalition, particularly for transferring F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
Efforts are now underway regarding the readiness of Dutch partners to provide Ukraine with simulators for these fighter jets.
General Oleksandr Syrskyi informed him about the operational and strategic situation at the front.
Despite significant personnel and equipment losses, the Russian aggressor refuses to abandon offensive actions.
By the end of the year, the Kremlin plans to recruit more than 400,000 contract soldiers to increase its contingent in Ukraine to 800,000 servicemembers.
Therefore, we have no choice but to continue the fight and destroy the enemy.
Oleksandr Syrskyi informed his Dutch counterpart about the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for repelling the Russian onslaught. These include, above all, air defense systems and various types of missile weaponry.
“I am confident in the effectiveness of further military cooperation in accordance with the national interests of Ukraine, the Netherlands, and other NATO member states, in order to strengthen the security of the entire European space”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi stated.
As a symbol of gratitude for productive cooperation and his personal contribution to Ukraine’s resilience, Oleksandr Syrskyi presented General Onno Eichelsheim with the highest distinction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — the honorary badge Cross of Merit.
