Rays of Love Amid the Horrors of War: A Marine Played for His Beloved on a Guitar Found in an Abandoned Building
A defender from the 36th Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilynskyi, callsign “Sky”, played a legendary song by the iconic Ukrainian rock band Plach Yeremii and dedicated it to his beloved wife.
The video of the performance was published by the 36th Brigade.
“Sky” is originally from the Poltava region. Before the full-scale war, he was a private entrepreneur. Now he is a UAV operator.
He says it is very painful to see what the Russians have turned Kostiantynivka into.
“I found the instrument by accident among a pile of trash in a building. I heard a distinctive sound, started digging through the junk, and pulled out the guitar.
I took it with me, and already at the position tried to tune it and play. It turned out to have a sound on the level of top, elite instruments. I consider the song ‘You Will Bloom for the Third Time This Summer’ a gem of Ukrainian rock.
I simply sat down and started picking the strings, thought about my wife, relatives, family — and this song was the first that came to mind. I started playing it, and the guys said, ‘Let’s record it’. That’s how this video came about”, — Sky says.
According to the marine, he has loved music for as long as he can remember. Even at the front, he tries to find time to play — it helps him and his brothers-in-arms to distract themselves.
