In Davos, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held his first meeting with President of Switzerland Guy Parmelin.

The Office of the President reported this on January 22.

The Head of State congratulated Guy Parmelin on his election and thanked Switzerland for its unwavering support of Ukraine since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale aggression.

The presidents discussed diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a dignified peace and the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia.

“Ukraine values Switzerland’s sanctions policy and counts on important decisions going forward”, — the statement said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the situation in Ukraine amid constant Russian strikes on energy facilities during this cold winter and the round-the-clock work of repair crews and energy workers to restore electricity, heating, and water supply in Ukrainian cities and communities.

The President informed about the needs to support the energy sector and strengthen air defense. The leaders discussed the possibility of an additional Swiss contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
