A national-patriotic event within the framework of the All-Ukrainian competition “Year of Cybersecurity: Life Paths of Historical Figures of Ukraine and the World — 2025” of the command-and-staff game CyberJura was held on the eve of Ukraine’s Unity Day.
Participants included six teams of cyber-jura members and cyber-cadets who presented their work and results achieved during the competition year:
Using examples of the life paths of defenders of Ukraine as well as historical “antipode” figures, participants demonstrated practical approaches to developing critical thinking and affirming Ukrainian identity through modern digital tools.
Special attention during presentations was given to the use of cloud technologies for organizing information space and creating a digital pantheon of patrons of units of the All-Ukrainian children’s and youth military-patriotic game Sokil (Dzhura).
The event was organized by the International Academy of Geoinformatics in cooperation with partners and members of the competition jury.
The jury included Borys Skrebtsov (National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”), diplomat Oleksandr Khara, researcher Yaroslav Savchenko, and Head of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization “Territory of Women” Liliia Shevchenko.
“I wish all participants in the competition to present their projects as effectively as possible. We expect a fair competition and a result that will please everyone”, — said Yuri Yelenych, a representative of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in his welcoming remarks.
Participants presented interactive creative works with a comparative analysis of two figures from the history of Ukraine and the Ukrainian people: a hero and his antipode — a traitor.
The comparative effect was particularly strong, clear, and tangible due to the choice of radically different, polar, antagonistic personalities.
The event also demonstrated examples of how technology can support practical activities, enhance the symbolic component of the game, and contribute to systematic work with historical memory.
Organizers emphasized that the competition concept and the presented solutions align with the focus on implementing and using the capabilities of digital platforms and modern technologies in educational and upbringing processes.
According to the results of the presentations, first place was awarded to the “Crew 10” team of the Naval Lyceum named after Vice Admiral Volodymyr Bezkorovainyi.
Its participants compared the biographies of Hero of Ukraine, Colonel of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, first-class combat pilot Ihor Bedzai, and collaborator and traitor of Ukraine Denys Berezovskyi.
Second place was taken by the “New Vision” team of the Velyka Novosilka Settlement Territorial Community, Donetsk region.
They spoke about Hero of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel (posthumously) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleh Adamovskyi, and Yevhen Basiuk, callsigns “Chornomorets” and “Kompaniiets” — a lieutenant of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army who, after captivity, entered into active cooperation with the NKVD.
Third place went to the “Kolibri” team of the Novosamarske Hub Lyceum of the Oknianska Settlement Council, Donetsk region.
Its participants spoke about the prominent Ukrainian military figure, Lieutenant General of the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, commander of the Black Zaporozhians Regiment Petro Diachenko, and Soviet military, public, and political figure, commander of Red Army units and formations during the Civil War of 1917–1922, Hryhorii Kotovskyi.
For reference: The launch of the All-Ukrainian competition “Year of Cybersecurity: Life Paths of Historical Figures of Ukraine and the World — 2025” of the command-and-staff game CyberJura was announced on February 11, 2025.
In September 2025, an informational and methodological meeting was held at the Ukrainian State Center for National-Patriotic Education, Local History, and Tourism of Student Youth of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
During the meeting, participants were briefed on new directions of the Sokil (Dzhura) game and provided with practical proposals for engaging school teams in the autumn wave of the competition.
