Combat medic of the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade, Mykyta with the call sign “Hound”, recounted an unusual incident during the fighting in the Kursk region.
His story was published on the 67th Brigade’s channel.
During the fighting in the Kursk region, an unusual story took place in the basement of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Yunakivka, Sumy Oblast.
“We were told that they would bring us the first dead Korean in a bag and asked us to keep an eye on him until he was taken away”, — says “Hound”.
It was one of the first North Korean soldiers killed in a small-arms firefight.
“Of course, we wanted to take a look. There were jokes about Viktor Tsoi, because under the Russian uniform he was wearing a new Montana denim outfit and had similar facial features. We looked at him and then closed the bag”, — the soldier recalls.
That should have been the end of the story, as the fighters continued standing guard afterward. At one point, a fellow serviceman approached “Hound”, and they stood there discussing the recent event.
“Right now you’re standing with me in the basement of a Moscow Patriarchate church, guarding the body of a North Korean soldier. He was about twenty years old. He lies dead in our basement, thousands of kilometers from home, in a reality that is completely alien to him”, — said “Hound”.
According to him, he could not come to terms with this reality for a long time; it felt quite strange to him.
“They live in a world behind an iron curtain. They have never crossed the border. They were told legends about their leaders and ordered to go fight against Ukraine”, — Mykyta recalls.
