President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked all repair crews working around the clock to restore energy infrastructure after Russian strikes.
He stated this on the morning of January 18.
“In every city and community, under difficult weather conditions, you restore electricity, heat, and water supply. This is extremely hard work, but it adds internal resilience to our country and supports our diplomatic positions.
The situation in the energy system remains difficult, but we are doing everything to restore it as quickly as possible. Last night alone, there were over 200 strike drones.
Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Khmelnytskyi, and Odesa regions were hit. Dozens of people were injured, including a child. As of now, two people are known to have been killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones.
In total, this week saw more than 1,300 strike drones, about 1,050 guided aerial bombs, and 29 missiles of various types.
That is why Ukraine still needs more protection — primarily more missiles for air defense systems. If Russia deliberately drags out the diplomatic process, the world’s response must be decisive: more assistance to Ukraine and more pressure on the aggressor.
I thank all partners who stand with us, who are ready to help protect lives and strengthen Ukraine, and to work together on restoring security”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
