The network of support services for military personnel is being actively developed. These are specialized units that help not only with treatment or rehabilitation but also take on the resolution of complex social and legal issues.
This was stated on the air of the national telethon United News by Ihor Horbenko, Head of a Department of the Main Directorate of Social Support of the Ministry of Defense.
According to him, the support service is an effective and necessary mechanism that is now vitally important for supporting servicemembers. An example for this structure was the patronage service operating within the Azov Brigade.
“We adopted their experience and have now implemented it within the structures of civil-military cooperation. At present, this structure is gaining capacity and demonstrating very good results. Accordingly, in 2025 the number of appeals to the contact center decreased by 21%. The indicators are positive”, — said the Head of the Department of the Main Directorate of Social Support of the Ministry of Defense.
However, for comprehensive support of military personnel, Horbenko noted, changes are needed at the legislative level — for example, for accompanying wounded and sick servicemembers who are recovering in civilian hospitals.
“For this purpose, it is necessary at the state level to introduce amendments to Resolution No. 948. To allow representatives of Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers access to medical institutions that will work directly with our servicemembers. This will be a kind of hub that connects a servicemember undergoing treatment in a civilian medical facility with the support services of their military unit and resolves problematic issues that arise during treatment”, — Ihor Horbenko said.
