The Defense Ministers of Ukraine and the United Kingdom Signed a Roadmap for the Development of the Centennial Partnership
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denis Shmyhal, and his British counterpart, John Healey, today in Kyiv signed a roadmap for the development of the centennial partnership in the defense sphere.
The head of the defense ministry reported this on social media.
The document formalizes defense cooperation in 2026 across a number of key security areas.
As Denis Shmyhal noted, this is an important step toward implementing large-scale projects made possible by the Agreement on the Centennial Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. The Minister thanked John Healey for the visit.
“Together with representatives of the intelligence services and the General Staff, we informed [him] about the consequences of the massive Russian combined strike last night. Strengthening air defense and ensuring the supply of ammunition for these systems is a key priority”, — the statement said.
The United Kingdom has already made a significant contribution to strengthening our capabilities to repel Russian terror. Starting in February, we are ramping up production to 1,000 Octopus interceptor drones per month.
Separately, the following were discussed:
- opportunities for joint strategic industrial projects in the field of air defense and long-range weaponry;
- prospects for localizing the production of Swedish Gripen aircraft, which incorporate technologies from British companies;
- strengthening the protection of Ukraine’s maritime domain;
- preparations for the Ramstein meeting, which will take place in February.
“I am sincerely grateful to the United Kingdom for its invaluable support. Thank you to John Healey for his personal leadership and consistent assistance to Ukraine”, — the statement said.
