In Nicosia, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides.

The Head of State reported this on social media.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Cyprus on the start of its presidency of the Council of the European Union and discussed with Nikos Christodoulides efforts related to Ukraine’s European integration.

They also discussed defense support for Ukraine, strengthening air defense, drone supplies, and Cyprus’s participation in the PURL and SAFE programs.

The President separately noted Cyprus’s participation in the Coalition of the Willing. The leaders discussed the diplomatic situation and joint efforts with American and European partners to achieve a dignified peace.

Special attention was paid to the importance of strengthening sanctions against Russia, in particular introducing additional restrictions against Russia’s shadow fleet and proposals for the 20th EU sanctions package.

The presidents also discussed humanitarian support, including the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers and treatment of children.
