How veterans can safely return to sports — Ministry for Veterans affairs explains
Physical activity is an important component of recovery after service and injuries. At the same time, returning to sports must be balanced and safe.
The Ministry for Veterans Affairs explained proper ways to return to sports on January 2.
To ensure that sports activities support health rather than create additional risks, several basic principles should be followed:
- start with minimal loads. Even if you had a high level of physical fitness during service, after injuries or a long recovery period the body needs time to adapt;
- before starting training, it is important to consult a doctor or physical therapist. Ideally, choose formats where sports activities are combined with medical supervision and rehabilitation support;
- choose adaptive sports. In Ukraine, sports camps and rehabilitation camps for veterans are already operating, where it is possible to select a sport according to one’s condition — running, swimming, archery, rowing, powerlifting, and other disciplines.
The Ministry reminds that in order to receive the payment in the first quarter of 2026, applications must be submitted via the Diia app from January 1 to January 20, 2026.
How to apply:
- update the Diia app;
- log in and go to the “Services” section → “Veteran Sports”;
- review the program rules;
- open a Diia Card and select it for receiving funds;
- check the information and submit the application.
After approval, the funds will be automatically credited to the card — approximately within six days.
The list of sports facilities participating in the program is available via the link.
“Start the year actively!” — the Ministry for Veterans Affairs urged.
