“First radar assets, then aircraft”: the Navy on the occupiers’ “Dream” to cut Ukraine off from the Sea
By attacking the south of the country, the occupiers do not abandon their dream of cutting Ukraine off from the sea. However, options for both land and naval operations are currently unavailable to them. Therefore, Russia’s focus is on air attacks.
This was stated on the air of the national telethon United News by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to him, while enemy ships remain in their basing points and enemy troops stay beyond the Dnipro River, the main problem for the Defense Forces remains ballistic missile strikes from temporarily occupied Crimea and Shahed drone attacks from the sea.
However, the situation for Russia’s air component on the peninsula has also developed unfavorably. Recently, Russian air defense systems at the Belbek military airfield in Crimea were successfully struck. A few days later, enemy Su-27 aircraft also came under attack.
“First, we observed the destruction of surveillance and radar assets. After that, following the classic pattern, we saw strikes on targets that had to be reached — primarily aircraft. Because our main problem is airspace.
As you can see, they are not going out to sea now; there is no such activity. Of course, basing points are protected, but they pose no threat to us and have no value as targets”, — the Navy spokesperson noted.
