The Office of the President of Ukraine held a meeting with military delegations from France and the United Kingdom, led by the Chiefs of Staff — General Fabien Mandon and Sir Richard Knighton.
This was reported by Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa on December 19.
The parties discussed the implementation of security guarantees for Ukraine, including the possible presence of an international contingent, and what this should look like in practice, taking into account Ukraine’s experience of war.
“For us, it is essential that the agreements reached by the President during visits to Paris and London are transformed into concrete decisions and actions as quickly as possible. This is exactly what we are working on now.
We are demonstrating that Ukraine is ready for a peaceful settlement not in words, but through real preparation for its implementation. Peace requires guarantees, mechanisms, and accountability of the parties. This is precisely what we are working on”, — Pavlo Palisa wrote.
According to him, France and the United Kingdom are not just partners, but states that have consistently assumed responsibility from the first days of the war.
“They clearly understand that Ukraine’s security is the security of all of Europe. That is why their participation in the Coalition of the Willing has strategic importance, and our cooperation with them must be long-term, reliable, and effective.
Step by step, we are building a system that should ensure Ukraine’s readiness not only to defend itself, but also to implement a just and sustainable peace when real conditions for this emerge”, — Pavlo Palisa assured.
