On the night of December 15, Russian forces carried out a massive drone attack on the territory of Ukraine. In total, the enemy employed 153 attack UAVs of the Shahed type, “Gerbera”, as well as drones of other types.
This was reported by the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Massive attack from multiple directions
The aerial assault began at around 6:00 p.m. on December 14. Drone launches were recorded from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Millerovo, and Shatalovo on the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as from Chauda and Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Approximately 90 of the UAVs were Shahed-type drones.
Air defence operations
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems units, as well as mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, were involved in repelling the attack.
As of 9:00 a.m., air defense forces had shot down and suppressed 133 enemy UAVs in the north, south, and east of the country.
Consequences
At the same time, impacts by 17 attack UAVs were recorded at 10 locations. The attack is ongoing — several enemy UAVs remain in the airspace of Ukraine.
The Air Force urges citizens not to ignore air raid warning signals and to follow safety rules.
