The Armed Forces of Ukraine are testing new weapons against glide bombs — up to 100 KABs shot down in the autumn
Ukraine’s Defense Forces are strengthening their countermeasures against Russian guided aerial bombs (KABs), which remain one of the biggest threats on the front line.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine following its monthly capability-development meeting.
HUNTING KABs
The military is implementing a set of measures to reduce the effectiveness of Russian airstrikes.
“New weaponry to counter KABs is being tested. In September–November, the anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed up to 100 enemy KABs”, — the General Staff stated.
JET-POWERED ‘GERANS’ FAILED
Intelligence reported that the enemy is trying to increase the effectiveness of its strikes by using new means. In particular, Russia is already employing high-speed strike drones equipped with jet engines.
“The enemy used 138 jet-powered ‘Gerans’, most of which were destroyed by our air defense”, — the military reported.
ROBOTIZED FORTRESSES AND INTERCEPTORS
Participants of the meeting also discussed the introduction of advanced technologies dictated by modern warfare:
- UAV interceptors for destroying enemy drones;
- ground robotic systems;
- combat modules on robotized strongpoints.
“The implementation and scaling of innovations are effective only when the capabilities of our troops grow simultaneously”, — emphasized Brigadier General Oleksii Shevchenko, Deputy Chief of the General Staff.
