President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky visited Kherson on the third anniversary of the city’s liberation from Russian occupation, congratulated its residents, and presented state awards.
Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on social media.
First, the Head of State and those present honored with a moment of silence all Kherson residents who died defending Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“Now even Russian propagandists themselves are calling Kherson part of Ukraine. Because it’s simply a fact — a powerful fact — that Russia has no place here. A fact that only time separates us from true peace for Ukraine, from true peace for Kherson, for all our land”, — the President said.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the need for unity and joint work for the sake of victory.
“It is very important for us to hold on, to protect our home, to protect our people, to help those nearby, to remain resilient and to press on. To press the enemy until the war is over. I am absolutely certain that this will definitely happen”, — Zelensky said in his address.
The President also drew attention to the ongoing reconstruction efforts following the destruction caused by shelling.
“We are restoring and will restore what the Russians are destroying. They destroy every day, they build drones to kill. We are providing our responses — to ensure protection”, — the Head of State noted.
“Today here in Kherson, we will hold a special meeting with local officials responsible for security — above all, representatives of the unmanned systems component of our Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as representatives of the special services. We are preparing decisions aimed at strengthening Kherson — strengthening our people here”, — Volodymyr Zelensky announced.
The Head of State presented state awards to people of different professions — both military personnel and civilians — all of whom serve their country in Kherson.
“And the most important thing is this: you are exactly such people. I am convinced that this is what matters most in Kherson. This is what the Kherson region truly is. You have preserved the integrity of Ukraine. You are among those who preserved the integrity of our state”, — the President of Ukraine said.
