NATO Military Committee Visited Kyiv for the First Time in Eight Years
A delegation of the NATO Military Committee, comprising the Military Representatives of all 32 Allies, visited Kyiv.
The delegation held talks with the leadership of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield situation and further support for Ukraine.
“During talks with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, the focus was on Ukraine’s military priorities and the lessons learned, which should help strengthen the readiness of NATO member states to address current and future threats,” NATO Military Committee Chair Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone wrote on X.
He noted that this was the first official visit by the NATO Military Committee to Kyiv in eight years.
“And although we have not been physically present here, Ukraine has always remained in our thoughts, discussions, decisions and subsequent actions — every day. This visit fulfils a promise I made to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi during our last conversation in August this year,” Giuseppe Cavo Dragone stressed.
The admiral noted that the Military Committee’s visit to Kyiv followed the visit of the North Atlantic Council to the Ukrainian capital in June.
“We are here in full force and with a clear message: the bond between NATO and Ukraine is growing ever stronger. In the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and its reckless hybrid activities in NATO countries, we stand unwaveringly shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in its heroic defence of its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the future of its people,” Giuseppe Cavo Dragone stressed.
The delegation members also paid tribute to all Ukrainian soldiers, particularly those who have been killed or wounded.
