President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has agreed to hold a meeting with his American counterpart Donald Trump.

He announced this on his social media accounts following a telephone conversation with the head of the White House.

“An important conversation, and we managed to discuss a great many things. We agreed to meet in New York, and this meeting could change a lot. The diplomatic momentum is there,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Among other things, he thanked Donald Trump for the recent visit to Kyiv by his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, and for US efforts towards de-escalation in the war Russia unleashed.

“We went through the substantive details thoroughly, and the guys saw the situation in Ukraine. The peace track is priority number one. There are ideas on de-escalation steps and on fundamental security issues — energy, food, the protection of human life. We are working together with the American team and are ready to take genuinely serious steps. I thanked the President of America for signing the Lindsey Graham law. We all agree: there must be peace,” the President wrote.
