The US House of Representatives has backed a bill that tightens sanctions pressure on Russia and on those who help finance its war machine.

The Washington-based outlet The Hill reported this.

A total of 262 members of the House of Representatives voted for the Graham-Blumenthal bill, the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act, together with an amendment expanding sanctions against Iran.

The bill now awaits the signature of US President Donald Trump.

The legislation proposes tariffs of up to 100% on the five largest buyers of Russian energy and on countries that help Russia evade sanctions.

It also provides for sanctions against Russian officials, banks and the shadow fleet, and extends sanctions against Iran.

As ArmyInform reported earlier, in late August Minister of Defence of Ukraine Yevhenii Khmara met in Kyiv with US Senator Richard Blumenthal. He stressed the importance of continuing to restrict Russia’s financial capabilities, as this directly affects the aggressor’s ability to continue the war.
