Germany to continue supporting Ukraine’s defence: defence chiefs discuss upcoming “Ramstein”
Ukrainian Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara held a phone call with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius.
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reported this on September 5.
Yevhenii Khmara thanked Germany for its extremely important support and leadership in working with other partners. He also briefed his counterpart on russia’s intensifying air terror, with jet-powered drones and ballistic missiles posing the main threats.
Yevhenii Khmara assured that Ukraine is developing its own defence plan and is already carrying out asymmetric actions that are producing results.
At the same time, rapidly strengthening protection against russian strikes remains a priority.
The Ukrainian and German sides discussed funding for defence needs. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is conducting an audit of resources and human capital within the Defence Forces.
However, financial support from partners remains critically important for Ukraine’s resilience.
The conversation also covered preparations for next week’s meeting in the “Ramstein” format.
Another priority discussed by the ministers was the development of joint defence industries, with a focus on increasing the production of Ukrainian solutions and closer cooperation between Ukraine’s and Germany’s defence industries.
As ArmyInform reported, Ukraine and Italy discussed steps to strengthen Ukraine’s air defence.
