President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said Ukraine is aiming to significantly scale up production of long-range drones.

The head of state reported this following a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine currently uses an average of more than 300 long-range drones a day, but that figure needs to increase.

The President named protecting Ukraine from Russia’s new air attack tactics — in particular the use of jet-powered Shaheds — as a separate priority.

He therefore stressed the need to speed up production of interceptor drones capable of countering such targets.

Ukraine, meanwhile, continues to strike Russian infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that during the meeting the military briefed him on the situation around Novorossiysk.

He said Ukrainian action has already brought shipping in the port to a halt.

“Not a single vessel is entering their Novorossiysk or leaving the port,” the President stressed.

The President described every day the port spends out of operation as a contribution to reducing Russia’s military potential, and said Ukraine would look for opportunities to block other Russian ports as well.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately reported that Ukraine had received information from the American side about recent meetings of US representatives in Moscow.

Kyiv views the tone of the American talks with Russia and the coordination of action positively, he said.

Ukraine’s financial needs were another item on the agenda. Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi reported on work on the bills and government decisions needed to secure funding from international partners.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that the authorities must act in a fully coordinated way this autumn to provide resources for the army, the defence procurement order, supplies to the front and air defence.

He said the Prime Minister would personally coordinate this work and would provide a detailed report every two weeks on the implementation of assigned tasks and on issues requiring additional assistance.

The President also emphasised that both the state’s defence and social commitments must be fully met.
