Ukraine is seeking 300 missiles for its Patriot systems as part of a winter air defence package, while the official request from the Air Force stands at 360.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this while speaking to journalists.

According to him, securing that number is difficult, given that around 600 such missiles are produced worldwide each year.

“I wanted to find 300 missiles for the Patriots for the winter package. The request from our Air Force is 360. But when 600 are produced a year, 360 is no easy matter,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

Ukraine is working with partners to find additional options. The President also said that Kyiv would like to obtain some of the missiles from American stockpiles.

“I would very much like to believe that we can find the key to some small percentage of US stocks — say 5% or 10%,” he said.

According to the President, this would allow the United States to renew its own stockpiles while giving Ukraine the level of missile defence it needs for the winter period.

“We are ready to pay for these supplies. In other words, America would be able to replenish its stocks, and we would be able to get through the winter,” the President stressed.
