Yevhenii Khmara has discussed strengthening air defence and defence cooperation with General Eirik Kristoffersen.

The Ukrainian side briefed the Norwegian command on Ukraine’s needs in countering Russia’s new means of air attack. Among the main challenges, Yevhenii Khmara named jet-powered Shaheds.

Ukraine is already developing the means to counter such drones, but partner support is needed to deploy these solutions quickly.

Yevhenii Khmara separately stressed the need for interceptor missiles to counter Russian ballistic missiles. At the same time, Ukraine continues to strike the Russian capabilities that enable missile attacks.

“There have been significant strikes in recent days. Russia will lose the ability to produce and launch missiles at Ukraine,” Yevhenii Khmara said.

Cooperation on unmanned systems was a separate topic of the meeting. Ukraine and Norway are preparing a Drone Deal — an agreement on joint work on unmanned technologies. Kyiv is counting on its signing and is ready to share its own developments with Norway.

Yevhenii Khmara thanked Norway for its support for Ukraine and for assistance that he described as valuable and critically important.
