Smart Weapons: Ukraine’s Defense Forces Now Field Over 70 AI and Machine-Vision Systems
More than 70 different systems with artificial intelligence and computer vision are already helping Ukraine's Defence Forces strike enemy targets.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that around 200 domestic companies are now producing AI-enabled drones.
The ministry aims to equip 100% of drones used by Ukrainian troops with machine vision.
Currently, 46 AI-enabled solutions — including target-recognition, optical-stabilization, and automatic target-tracking modules — are available for them on Brave1 Market, the state defense-technology marketplace.
This is fundamentally changing how unmanned systems are used:
- navigation without satellite systems — the system analyzes terrain and orients itself using pre-loaded maps;
- target recognition — neural networks enable the drone to independently identify enemy equipment and personnel;
- target engagement — the drone locks onto the target and moves toward it autonomously, even after losing contact with the operator.
As ArmyInform previously reported, the Ministry of Defense earlier described how AI-enabled drones are striking targets in the enemy’s rear.
