Destruction Visible from Space: Satellite Images Show Aftermath of ‘Flamingo’ Strike on Progress Center in Samara
A Ukrainian strike on the Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara on August 15 caused massive damage to the Russian strategic facility.
This is evidenced by satellite imagery released by OSINT analysts at Exilenova+.
According to the published photos, the area of destruction at the impact site of one of Ukraine’s FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles exceeds 2,900 square meters.
“The Progress Rocket and Space Center in Samara is Russia’s only enterprise for series production of Soyuz-2 family carrier rockets. Two hits struck Building 106A, where onboard electrical equipment, control systems, cable networks, and instrument compartments for the rockets are assembled. Building 106B, used for final assembly, is located nearby,” the report states.
According to Exilenova+, the strategic value of the Progress Center lies in its uniqueness, since the Soyuz-2 is the rocket Russia uses to launch military reconnaissance and targeting satellites, and Russia has no alternative production facility for it.
As ArmyInform previously reported, the distance from Ukraine’s state border to the damaged facility, which is part of the Roscosmos state corporation, is approximately 900 kilometers.
