Igor “Kornet” Obolensky, commander of the National Guard’s 2nd Corps “Charter,” discussed recruiting foreign volunteers for assault and infantry roles.

The corps commander’s statement was published on July 18 on the corps’ channel.

“Every nation has people endowed with a natural fighting spirit—those who choose the path of a warrior as their profession. It may be dangerous, but it is a path where they can fulfill their potential and succeed.

Today, such warriors are fighting alongside Ukrainian infantrymen against the Russians. And they have consciously chosen not only war as a profession.

They have chosen Ukraine as the side of light and good in this war. It is an honor for us to have such comrades-in-arms by our side,” stated Ihor Obolensky in an address to the foreign fighters serving on Ukraine’s side as part of the 23rd Assault Regiment “R.U.G.” of the “Charter” Corps.

“Charter” already has positive experience in deploying foreign volunteers on the battlefield, particularly during the Kupiansk operation.

Currently, volunteers from more than 40 countries—mostly from Colombia, Brazil, and other Latin American nations—are carrying out combat missions in the “R.U.G.” Assault Regiment as part of the “Charter” Corps.

“The war against the Russians is a war of attrition. Therefore, the decision to recruit more foreign fighters and provide them with decent compensation is both natural and justified,” noted Ihor Obolensky.

Currently, the 23rd “R.U.G.” Assault Regiment continues to carry out combat missions in the most challenging sectors of the front, demonstrating the effectiveness of its assault operations, the coordinated work of its units, and the resilience of Ukrainian and foreign volunteers in the battles for Ukraine.

Recently, the “Charter” organization launched a recruitment campaign to attract Ukrainian servicemembers to the “R.U.G.” regiment under the slogan “Combat Amigos Are Looking for Brothers-in-Arms.” You can join the regiment by filling out an application on the “Charter” website or by contacting the recruitment center at 3333.
