President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy summarized the results of the talks in France.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a series of major defense agreements following high-level talks in France, describing the outcome as a significant step forward in defense cooperation between the two countries and a contribution to the security of Europe as a whole.

In a statement published on social media, Zelenskyy said the negotiations resulted in what he called “an important agreement between Ukraine and France” and praised France for demonstrating leadership in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

Among the key agreements, Ukraine will receive licenses to domestically produce SCALP cruise missiles, AASM precision-guided bombs, and Aster 30 surface-to-air missiles in cooperation with Italy. France will also work with Ukraine and other international partners within the FREYJA anti-ballistic missile defense initiative.

According to the Ukrainian president, Ukraine will become the first country to receive the next-generation SAMP/T NG Franco-Italian air and missile defense systems. Before those systems enter service, France will provide two existing SAMP/T batteries to reinforce Ukraine’s air defenses later this year. France and Italy have also agreed to speed up deliveries of Aster 30 interceptor missiles, with shipments expected by October.

The agreements also include the acquisition of the first 16 Dassault Rafale multirole fighter aircraft for the Ukrainian Air Force, together with their weapons package. Training for Ukrainian pilots and maintenance crews is scheduled to begin in France later this year. Once personnel complete their training, the first four Rafale fighter jets will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy concluded by thanking French President Emmanuel Macron, the people of France, and Ukraine’s international partners for their continued support and cooperation.
