“There is no longer such a thing as a strategic rear”: Volodymyr Zelenskyy explains what Ukrainian Drones have changed
Ukraine has deprived Russia of its sense of security even thousands of kilometers from the front line.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy made the statement during his speech at the NATO Defence Industries Forum.
According to the Head of State, for years Russia regarded its territorial depth as its main strategic advantage, believing that its military factories, warehouses, and other critical facilities would remain beyond the reach of strikes.
“We have completely destroyed the very idea that Russia has a strategic rear”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed.
The President noted that Ukrainian long-range drones now regularly strike targets thousands of kilometers from the state border. As an example, he cited the strike on an oil refinery in Siberia.
“And this is not an exception. This is the new reality. There is not a single major oil refinery left in Russia that Ukraine has not struck”, — he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also reported that in June alone, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated nearly 28,000 Russian troops. According to him, the majority of these losses resulted from drone strikes.
“We are not saying this to boast about the number of people killed. We are showing what modern warfare looks like — a war we did not start, but are forced to fight in order to defend our country”, — the President said.
He also stressed that Ukraine now possesses the world’s most extensive practical experience in conducting warfare using unmanned systems.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, this experience forms the foundation of the Drone Deal initiative, which provides not only for the procurement of drones but also for joint production, the development of air defense systems, and the protection of critical infrastructure.
The President thanked the countries that have already joined the initiative or are preparing to do so in the near future.
