Bots, trolls, and historical grievances: russia seeks to escalate tensions between Ukraine and Poland
A significant increase in the activity of russian bot farms attempting to inflame Polish-Ukrainian relations has been recorded in Poland.
This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The Center referred to a statement by Poland’s Minister-Coordinator of Special Services, Tomasz Siemoniak.
According to him, russia is using troll farms, bot networks, and other information warfare tools. They are spreading manipulative content and speculation surrounding historical disputes between Poles and Ukrainians.
The Center emphasized that the Kremlin is attempting to artificially provoke tensions in Polish-Ukrainian relations.
To achieve this, russian propaganda creates emotionally charged information narratives and fuels polarization in both societies.
Previously, Polish law enforcement authorities had already documented attempts by russia to organize and finance activities aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country.
The Center also noted that russia had spent many years laying the informational groundwork for inciting Polish-Ukrainian disputes.
Such campaigns are based on exploiting historical grievances and other sensitive issues, which the Kremlin uses to deepen mutual distrust.
