Ukraine's Defence Forces struck the Chonhar Bridge on June 7, cutting the main route for Russian troops, ammunition, and fuel from occupied Crimea.

Ukraine’s Defence Forces struck the Chonhar Bridge on the night of June 7, dealing significant damage to the primary land route connecting Russian-occupied Crimea with mainland occupied territory, the 475th Separate Assault Regiment reported.

The bridge serves as the main supply corridor for Russian troops, ammunition, and fuel moving from Crimea toward the Hulyaipilske direction. According to the regiment’s commander, callsign “Flint,” it was the sole logistics artery supplying Russia’s 37th Motorised Rifle Brigade operating in the area.

“It was decided to strike this bridge — the only route for transporting personnel, ammunition, and fuel — specifically to block the supply of fuel and lubricants to the 37th Motorised Rifle Brigade,” Flint said.

Photographs published on Russian social media confirm the extent of the damage, showing holes exceeding one metre in diameter punched through the bridge deck. Russian-installed occupation administrator of Kherson region Vladimir Saldo confirmed in his own social media posts that traffic across the Chonhar Bridge had been closed following the Ukrainian drone attacks.

The joint operation was conducted by the 475th Separate Assault Regiment together with the 1st Separate Assault Regiment named after Dmytro Kotsiubailo, using Fire Point systems and Begemot UAVs. According to the 1st Regiment’s commander, callsign “Perun,” cyber intelligence played a central role in the operation’s planning and execution.

“We know the exact time, the routes. We know which roads they use to move their fuel,” Perun said.

The strike’s operational impact extends beyond bridge infrastructure. Flint noted that Russian forces in the area are now facing a compound logistics crisis — unable to move reinforcements and simultaneously short of fuel to power generators and supply drone operator positions.

“The enemy is very upset — they not only have no way to bring in personnel, they now have no fuel to power generators or supply their drone operators’ positions,” he said.

The Chonhar strike is the latest in a sustained Ukrainian campaign targeting Russian logistics infrastructure in and around occupied Crimea. Ukraine’s Defence Forces have conducted repeated strikes on Crimean fuel depots, the Kerch Bridge rail link, and ferry crossing capacity, creating cascading supply shortages across Russian-occupied territory.

“This is just the beginning,” Flint said.
