By education, Vira Mykolaivna is a mechanical engineer and a graduate of Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. She worked at a factory and raised children, but fate broug
Her story was published on the page of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Since childhood I dreamed of becoming a surgeon, but I ended up in communications. And this field fascinated me so much, became so dear and interesting, that I stayed here for decades”, — she recalls.
Today Vira is part of a true military dynasty. Her father was a serviceman, her husband defended the country, and now her son serves guarding the skies in another tactical aviation brigade.
February 24, 2022 caught the servicewoman at home, but within a few hours she had already begun performing her duties.
“We have clear regulations: ensuring communications and power supply within specific time periods. I cannot leave my post, because whether the aircraft completes its mission and whether there will be coordination depends on my work. This is a responsibility that leaves no room for fear”, — Vira Mykolaivna says.
Even after being discharged to the reserve due to age, she could not remain on the sidelines — she gathered the documents and returned to the territorial recruitment center.
“I realized: civilian life is not for me. Here I can bring more benefit”, — the woman says.
Today she not only maintains complex communication networks but also passes her experience on to newcomers. Commanders respect her and subordinates admire her, because Vira represents professionalism that has no gender.
“My colleagues at the facility are people on whom everything rests. They are my rear and my support. Without their support and dedication it would have been impossible to endure the most difficult moments”, — she says warmly.
The daily work of the electronic communications unit may seem like routine to an outside observer, but behind it stands a complex process that does not stop for a minute.
For Vira Mykolaivna and her team, it is above all the everyday coordination of all units and higher command.
It is subtle but extremely important work, where every signal and every connection is the result of joint efforts.
It is this invisible communication that becomes the foundation allowing aircraft to take off in time to perform their missions.
