At present, Ukraine has received 11 requests for security support from countries neighboring Iran, European states, and America.
This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on March 9.
He held a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Staff, where participants discussed destabilization caused by the war in Iran and the corresponding risks for global markets, regional countries, and Ukraine’s closest partners supporting it in defending against Russian aggression.
“The issue is complex: all these events in the Middle East and the Gulf region directly affect Europe — and in particular Ukraine — as well as other parts of the world, critically important supplies to Ukraine, and the security and well-being of our people. Reports were delivered by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, heads of intelligence agencies, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the Minister of Defense”, — the Head of State said.
During the meeting, the participants analyzed the main prospects of the war in Iran and possible consequences of its prolongation.
According to the President, requests from various states for Ukrainian security support in countering Shahed drones and similar threats were examined in detail.
“As of now, there are 11 requests from countries neighboring Iran, European states, and America. There is clear interest in Ukraine’s experience in protecting lives, corresponding interceptors, electronic warfare systems, and training. Ukraine is ready to respond positively to requests from those who help us protect the lives of Ukrainians and the independence of Ukraine. We have already responded to some requests with specific decisions and specific support”, — Zelenskyy noted.
The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, together with the General Staff and the Defense Forces, will determine which additional requests Ukraine can respond to positively without reducing its own defensive capabilities.
“Ukraine’s priority is clear: the Iranian regime must not gain any advantage over those defending life, and everyone must work together to achieve tangible stabilization both in the region and in global markets”, — the President emphasized.
He added that Ukraine has long proposed that partners update and strengthen joint capabilities to protect lives.
“We have spoken about joint protection against drones and missiles, as well as the destruction of the relevant production facilities of aggressor regimes — weapons production used in attacks. Each such regime has set itself against the world, and responses are needed. Every production site of ‘Shahed’ drones is known.
The Iranian and Russian regimes support each other, and more and more information is emerging, including about Russian components in the ‘Shaheds’ striking Iran’s neighbors. The world is certainly stronger than anyone trying to destabilize it. We expect partners to be sufficiently decisive”, — he concluded.
