Eduard Revin, call sign “Ninja”, is a medical orderly of a mechanized battalion of the 23rd brigade, originally from Donetsk region.

His story was published on the page of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the 20th Army Corps of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In civilian life, he studied to be a paramedic in Makiivka and worked in a hospital and the Synlab medical laboratory.

As a displaced person from Donetsk region, he temporarily lived in Dnipro. That is where his military journey began. He received a draft notice on the street, passed the medical examination, and when asked whether he was willing to serve, replied that if needed — then yes.

He has served since January 2023 and says he does not regret being assigned specifically to the 23rd brigade.

He knows well the difference between “peace medicine” and “war medicine”: at the front, he sees severe wounds and amputations.

“The picture is sad, but we have no other choice. And even in war, there are many smiles and funny moments. I believe this is a protective reaction to stress and everything we see. We try to shield ourselves with humor, to cheer each other up a bit”, — he says.

The medic describes evacuations and how they depend on the situation: sometimes comrades bring the wounded to designated points in armored vehicles, sometimes it is medics with their own transport.

He recalls helping civilians after shelling — for example, after the shelling of a village council, where military medics assisted the injured.

Eduard also speaks of the occupation of his home village: enemies near the house, bullet-riddled doors, a killed dog, looting.

Residents managed to escape from Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk region only when the enemy’s checkpoint was empty.

Eduard concludes: the enemy will stop only where we stop him. And to those who hesitate, he answers simply: “If you don’t know how to do something — the Armed Forces of Ukraine will teach you”.
