President Imposes Sanctions Against Subjects and Organizations of Russian Propaganda
Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree implementing the NSDC decision on sanctions against Russian scholars and officials.
This became known on February 24.
The sanctions target heads of bodies of the so-called occupation administrations and organizations that support Russia’s aggression, spread propaganda, participate in distorting historical facts, and steal cultural assets and documents from Ukraine’s National Archival Fund.
Among the 29 sanctioned individuals is Russian propagandist Oleksandr Chubaryan — co-author of a Russian school history textbook that justifies Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the spirit of Kremlin propaganda.
Also sanctioned are pseudo-historian and “Russian world” ideologue Oleksii Miller, and Artem Lahoiskyi, who betrayed Ukraine, joined the occupiers, headed the so-called “Ministry of Culture of Kherson Region”, and fully assists the Russians — from adopting occupation “documents” to violating the rights of Ukrainians.
Ukraine also imposed sanctions on 15 Russian organizations and bodies of the so-called occupation administrations involved in supporting Russian aggression and the occupation of Ukrainian territories, falsifying history, stealing cultural assets from museums and reserves in Crimea, and appropriating documents of the National Archival Fund of Ukraine for the benefit of the aggressor.
“We have imposed sanctions against cultural colonization — against those who have distorted Ukraine’s history for decades and imposed imperial narratives. This is not a matter of culture as such — it is part of hybrid warfare aimed at undermining our identity and statehood”, — emphasized Vladyslav Vlasіuk, the President’s adviser on sanctions policy.
All relevant information will be forwarded to Ukraine’s partners for further synchronization of sanctions in international jurisdictions.
