97% of Kupyansk is under Ukrainian control, and Russian troops in the city are effectively isolated and do not constitute a combat-ready force.

Lieutenant Colonel Viktor Trehubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces grouping, said this on air of the My–Ukraine TV channel.

“I’d even say it’s not 3% but just a few buildings where the Russians are located. Over the past day, 20 call signs were recorded. A day earlier, three Russians surrendered. They are simply trying to survive in a few buildings. This is not a combat-ready force, but people trapped and hoping to survive”, — Trehubov said.

According to him, the enemy is actively trying to destroy or at least reduce the Ukrainian bridgehead north and especially east of the city across the Oskil River, but without much success.

“Any attempts are suppressed quite effectively. Despite all their reinforcements, they achieve no results… They just crawl through the kill zone into a city where organized Ukrainian positions are located”, — he added.
