According to him, 22 enemy call signs are detected directly in Kupiansk over the radio. This means that there are that many radios within the encircled group, while the number of soldiers themselves is slightly higher. All of them are concentrated in one specific location — a block of high-rise buildings north of the city center. They have been localized there and are surviving thanks to drone-based logistics.
“If we take the east of the city, particularly the outskirts of Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, active enemy attacks continue there — but they are unsuccessful, just like the enemy’s attempts to enter from the north and infiltrate the city. They actively tried to use the remnants of infrastructure objects and the river. But in the case of Kupiansk, we can now confidently say that we control the city and that Russian attempts have failed”,— the spokesperson said.
Overall, Trehubov noted, the motivation of Russian soldiers in the Joint Forces Group’s area of responsibility is low. The occupation command is attempting to raise it — though in very peculiar ways.
“Most of them understand the situation they’re in and that their chances of survival are not very high. And we constantly observe attempts by Russian command to motivate them — through ‘zeroings,’ killings of their own personnel. I would say — creative killings. Their morale must be very low if they resort to this”, — Viktor Trehubov added.
