Captain “Yang,” a patrol police officer from Rivne region, now fights in the “Khyzhak” brigade under the Patrol Police Department. His combat path began in the infantry — with counter-sabotage operations and assault work.

His story was published on the brigade’s page.

He speaks candidly about one of the episodes of combat in Toretsk. According to headquarters data, about 12 Russian soldiers were inside the Palace of Culture building. Their location was recorded by Ukrainian drones. The group arrived on an armored combat vehicle, dismounted, and began clearing the building.

“The video showed us a basement. But on site—it was a pile of bricks. Holes in the walls, the enemy visible. I tossed in a TM mine. After the explosion, the basement collapsed along with the occupiers”, — the soldier recalls.

Today, “Yang” serves in a mobile fire group. In Kostyantynivka, his unit hunts enemy drones, which increasingly target civilians and military personnel, not just equipment.

He emphasizes that in MFG work, the key is caution and a cool head:

“You can’t run head-on at a drone. You might miss—and it will spot you. Sometimes a drone stops, turns around, and flies straight at you—then you think not about taking a shot, but where to hide”, — he explains.

In a single outing, Yang’s group can destroy up to two dozen enemy UAVs. The soldier admits that fear is always present — sometimes hard to control. Simple motivation helps in such moments:

“I’m here for my family and my homeland. If we stop them here—they won’t come to my home”, — he says.

That is why the mobile groups of the “Khyzhak” brigade go on duty every day — between assaults, drone hunts, and short recovery breaks.
