Massive attack on energy infrastructure: occupiers struck TPPs in Ivano-Frankivsk and Lviv regions
During the night of Saturday, February 7, Russian occupation forces launched a massive strike on the Burshtyn TPP in Ivano-Frankivsk region and the Dobrotvir TPP in Lviv region.
This was reported on social media by Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Denys Shmyhal.
“Russian criminals carried out another massive attack on energy facilities. Substations and 750 kV and 330 kV transmission lines — the backbone of Ukraine’s power grid — were hit. The enemy also struck generation facilities: Burshtyn TPP and Dobrotvir TPP”, — the statement reads.
According to the minister, as of 8:43 AM, 4.5–5 stages of emergency blackout schedules were applied nationwide, and in the eastern and northern regions — special emergency schedules.
“The attack continues. Energy workers are ready to begin restoration as soon as the security situation allows. Ukrenergo’s dispatcher activated a request for emergency assistance from Poland. I thank our military and energy workers for their resilience and heroism”, — Shmyhal added.
