Trilateral Talks in Abu Dhabi: Methods of Implementing a Ceasefire and Monitoring Cessation of Hostilities Discussed
The trilateral peace negotiations organized by the United Arab Emirates were constructive and focused on creating conditions for achieving lasting peace.
This is stated in the communiqué summarizing the talks, published by NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, who headed the Ukrainian delegation.
On February 4–5, delegations of the United States, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation held their second trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi aimed at advancing efforts to end the war in Ukraine.
The delegations reached an agreement under which the Russian Federation and Ukraine would conduct a mutual release of 157 prisoners of war. This is the first exchange in the past five months.
According to the communiqué, over the two days the delegations held broad discussions of other unresolved issues, including methods of implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities.
The delegations agreed to inform their respective capitals and continue trilateral negotiations in the coming weeks. They expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for organizing the talks.
“Ukraine is grateful to President Donald Trump for his leadership in advancing efforts aimed at ending the war”, — the communiqué states.
