The government, upon submission by Ukraine’s Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, appointed Taras Chmut as the Ministry of Defense’s representative to the Supervisory Board of the Defense Procurement Agency.

Fedorov wrote this on February 5.

“We continue strengthening the team with effective leaders”, — the Minister commented.

According to him, together with Taras Chmut they discussed the key tasks the Ministry of Defense plans to implement with the support of the Agency and the Supervisory Board:

  • Identifying real frontline needs and ensuring maximum transparency of all processes. Procuring what proves effective on the battlefield.

  • Everything procured must be directly connected to war objectives and current needs.

  • Quality control and timely delivery of all procured items: tracking shipments to reduce delays between payment and actual delivery and ensuring equipment arrives to the military on time.

  • Building a flexible and dynamic procurement system capable of responding to innovation cycles.

  • Reducing costs through transparent competition and anti-corruption effects.

“The Supervisory Board is responsible for strategic management of the Agency, achieving government-set goals, compliance with the law, and transparency. Taras Chmut’s appointment will significantly strengthen the Supervisory Board and help achieve wartime objectives”, — Fedorov wrote.

He emphasized that Taras Chmut is an effective leader who, as head of the Come Back Alive Foundation, built one of the most efficient and transparent support systems for the Defense Forces — from addressing real frontline needs to quality control, procurement, and rapid delivery to the front. This experience is critically important for transforming state defense procurement.

“The Ministry of Defense and the Agency must make defense procurement maximally effective, transparent, and focused on results on the battlefield”, — Fedorov noted.
