Near the city of Lyman in Donetsk region, the bodies of two more eliminated Kenyan citizens — whom aggressor state Russia recruited for its criminal war — were found.
This was reported on February 6 by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
They are Ombwori Denis Bagaka and Wahome Simon Gititu, whose remains were found near the body of another Kenyan mercenary, Clinton Nyapara Mogesa.
According to DIU, all three Kenyans — Bagaka, Gititu, and Mogesa — were lured into Russia’s war against Ukraine in Qatar, where they worked for security companies with good stable income but chose to trade their lives for Moscow’s promises of quick and bigger money.
On September 27, 2025, Bagaka and Mogesa arrived in Russia — at a contract selection point in Yaroslavl.
Gititu joined them a month later — on October 28.
Bagaka, Gititu, and Mogesa were placed in a “penal battalion”, whose personnel, according to Russian POW testimonies, are used by the aggressor for one-way combat missions.
After a short training at “Pogonovo”, the three Africans were sent to Donbas — to assault the city of Lyman.
While moving through the so-called kill zone, all three mercenaries were eliminated by Ukraine’s Defense Forces — their first battle became their last.
