Operators of the 73rd Center of the Special Operations Forces, while performing combat missions in one of the settlements of the Zaporizhzhia region, rescued a Ukrainian infantryman who had spent a long time in the “grey zone” after becoming separated from his unit.
This was reported on 30 January by the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
During special actions, the combat group found a frozen man among the buildings. At first, they mistook him for an enemy serviceman, but after checking, it turned out that he was a fighter from one of the Defense Forces units.
The man said that for several weeks he had been trying to reach Ukrainian positions after losing contact with his unit.
During these attempts, he managed to bypass enemy positions and reach the “grey zone”, where he hid from enemy groups and drones.
At the moment he was found, the fighter was exhausted, dehydrated, and unable to move on his own. SOF operators immediately provided him with first aid and evacuated him to safety.
