Three Days on the Position — Then They Surrendered: “Spartan” Captured Prisoners in the Pokrovsk Direction
Soldiers of the 3rd Operational Brigade “Spartan” of the National Guard captured more Russian soldiers in Donetsk region.
A video of the conversation with the prisoners was published on January 28 on the brigade’s channel.
One prisoner, Serhiy, is 36. He is from Kemerovo region — considered the coal-mining center of Russia. But mines are closing, and there is no work. So he signed a contract. He thought he’d serve in the rear, but he was sent to kill Ukrainians. Then came a wound, two months in a trench waiting for evacuation, treatment, AWOL, binge drinking — and another deployment to Ukraine.
The second prisoner, Ivan, is 41. He is from Perm Krai. He signed a contract while drunk after a fight with his wife. When he sobered up, he wanted to back out — but it was too late. He went to war, and after his first leave he deserted. He hid for eight months but was caught and sent back to Ukraine.
This time the occupiers fought for only a short while — and ended up “reinforcing the exchange fund.” Now both ask the rhetorical question: “Who — and from whom — are we supposed to defend here in Ukraine?”
