In the Sloviansk sector, within the area of responsibility of the 54th Brigade, the enemy has become more active. One after another, it conducts assault actions using small groups and attacks logistics routes.
This was reported on the national telethon United News by Maksym Butolin, Chief Sergeant of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
According to him, the enemy is very actively employing artillery and FPV drones. The number of fiber-optic FPV drones has increased severalfold, and the length of the fiber-optic cable has grown as well. As a result, the Russians are now able to reach logistical routes.
“The enemy identifies logistics routes and deploys so-called ‘waiting drones’ on fiber-optic control — no electronic warfare systems affect them. The panacea is mobile fire groups, but even they are not always able to destroy them. Especially since the enemy uses them cleverly — deploying two drones. If a mobile fire group reacts to the first one, the second one strikes the target precisely”, — said the Chief Sergeant of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa.
In the brigade’s defensive sector, the enemy has amassed significant forces. The approximate ratio is now three brigades against one. That is why an active enemy offensive is expected here, although weather conditions may hinder the attack.
“The weather is currently frosty, but a thaw is expected. And during a thaw, active combat operations generally subside somewhat. Wet Donbas is a very complex geological environment, a difficult thing overall. Therefore, while the thaw lasts, we do not expect very active actions, although anything can be expected from the enemy”, — Maksym Butolin noted.
