Twenty eliminated occupiers during the repulsion of a single assault is not the limit — at the beginning of January this year, Podillia air assault troops destroyed as many as 60 invaders at once.
Ukrainian defenders are also effectively burning enemy equipment, on which the Russians are unsuccessfully trying to install additional protection.
This was reported in an exclusive comment to ArmyInform by Colonel Dmytro Kapitula, commander of the 46th Separate Podillia Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Losses of Russian occupiers on the Pokrovsk axis have reached record levels.
“In the area of responsibility of our brigade, the enemy is suffering significant personnel losses. Thus, in December last year alone, the enemy lost nearly 600 servicemen — including both irreversible and sanitary losses.
As for daily losses, this figure depends on the intensity of combat operations. For example, at the beginning of January, when the enemy launched another massive assault, our fighters destroyed more than 60 occupiers in a single day”, — he said.
Recently, during another assault attempt in the area of responsibility of the 46th Separate Podillia Airmobile Brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russian occupiers lost 20 killed and three more wounded.
Podillia paratroopers also destroyed an enemy tank and two armored combat vehicles, which the Russians had attempted to protect using welded metal structures.
“During the assault, the enemy used tanks and armored vehicles equipped with metal frames, to which unraveled metal cables — so-called ‘hedgehogs’ — were additionally attached.
In the enemy’s view, such structures were supposed to protect the equipment from kamikaze drones and shaped-charge munitions.
However, our FPV drone operators found gaps in this protection and struck precisely those areas, allowing the enemy equipment to be disabled and later destroyed”, — the officer explained.
Enemy armored vehicles were also equipped with mine ploughs, which likewise failed to help the enemy.
“In addition, enemy tanks were fitted with mine ploughs, but these also did not help the occupiers, since our engineers had заранее installed mine-explosive barriers along designated routes.
The ploughs began detonating mines, but due to the high density of mining and the large explosive power, these structures were simply torn off the tanks”, — the brigade commander reported.
Drone operators played a decisive role in repelling the assault, striking enemy equipment and assault troops with FPV drones and heavy bombers.
“The enemy attempted to overcome the mine-explosive barriers using tanks equipped with mine ploughs.
However, thanks to early detection, a properly structured observation system, reconnaissance, fire damage, and other comprehensive measures, as well as the successful actions of our servicemen, this enemy tactic proved ineffective.
Thanks to strikes by FPV drones and heavy bombers, we managed to turn the tide of the battle and prevent the enemy from accomplishing its mission”, — Dmytro Kapitula said.
The enemy is attempting to develop the production of naval drones and copy successful Ukrainian practices — both technical solutions and tactics.
